A detention officer with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is caught on tape swiping a document from a defense attorney’s files behind her back. Officer Adam Stoddard then hands the document to Deputy Francisco Campillo to make photocopies. This is the original video, as obtained by freelance journalist Nick Martin. The sheriff is irrelevent to this issue, and I’m not going to be dragged into that argument. The DETENTION officer handled this poorly, and so did the judge..
Gag order? Of course the court wants these records sealed, since we’ve already got national attention…again!… over the issue This was done to protect the defense attorney? Please!
There is no good reason to turn a Good Cop and Detention officer into vilans over your hatred for their Sheriff. Fact is Joe keeps getting re-elected because the public is overwhelmingly happy about his job performance. Just because you are not does not qualify you to make acusations absent a factual basis and missing key information. But I guess thats just your type. The Monday morning quarterback.
Look past your obvious hatred for Sheriff Joe and understand that there were not policy or law violations that took place. Ofc. Stoddard watched the hand to hand and watched the letter get put into the file. Exigent circumstances could be argued based on preservation of evidence. But a search warrant would have been more rock solid. Both of these men are stand up guys with excellent careers and in good standing with their divisions.
Have your heard the principals in the case make any comment? No you have not. To save embarassment for the DEFENCE ATTORNEY, there has been a *** order issued. You will likely call me a liar and that is fine. I don’t care. Were I there and Saw what stoddard saw as far as the letter getting passed before being screened, I would have detained the lawyer and file until I could have drafted a search warrant on it.
1 who I am emplyed by is irrelevant.
2 I am not Adam Stoddard And for the record, if YOU had your facts straight, you would know Stoddard is a DETENTION OFFICER Not a Deputy Sheriff.
3 To stop you followup question before it is asked. I am Not Deputy Campillo either. Though I do know him and consider him both a collegue and friend.
4 The Sheriff’s OFFICE Not department. Department implies that the official head is appointed and not ellected by the majority of the voters.
Nevo, how do you know this is what we would have seen? If that were the case, why not use it in the hearing, not this lame attempt to cite ‘keywords’ as an excuse to steal the paper(s) from the file.
Also, proper procedure would have noted the ‘corrupting’ action, then had the prosecutor or the judge seize the paper(s) on the spot. Operating the way this deputy did makes absolutely no sense!
You obviously work for the Maricopa County Sheriff’s dept. Are you Deputy Stoddard maybe?
That deputy shoudl have been immediately charged with theft, and the judge should have cited him for contempt. The deputy has no business even looking at papers on counsel table, let alone removing documents from a file.
@bulfrog5 GO **** YOURSELF GOVERNMENT SHILL …
If you do not like the way law enforcement is conducted in this country then do something about it. Put up or shut up!!
I hardly think personal insults are appropriate. However to address the questions you raised. This is 9 minutes and 25 seconds into a sentancing hearing. Where are the other 9:25 minutes worth of footage? In those 9 minutes you would have seen Lozano put a hand written letter into his Atty’s file without it being censored. Lozano has been under constant surveilance as he has personally been involved in corrupting 2 previous attorneys.
BTW, are you aware that the defense attorney’s file had already been examined before it ever entered the court room? The deputy admitted that in the hearing held on the contempt charge. The judge, the prosecutor and the deputy all need to be sanctioned, since the act was ignored by all of those who should have been watching out for the court’s integrity.
Alas, it will not happen because this is Maricopa County in the police state of Arizona.
Nevo, are you insane or merely stupid? Without any facts? What about a video that clearly shows the deputy walking over to the defense attorney’s table, going through the defense attorney’s file, then taking a paper from it? He was in court. He could have asked the prosecutor to appeal to the judge for a warrant, he could have asked the judge himself for a warrant. He personally had no right to pilfer papers from the file.
It’s so obvious the judge and deputies are all in on it. The judge just keeps repeating she “doesn’t know what’s going on.” As though she didn’t see the Dep. take the document.
“Wha…huh…?” The deputies need to maintain “security.” “I don’t know nothin.”
Please if you don’t know the law do not make assumptions – A felony was committed here because the theft was of Federal property

Amendment IV
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
which is thought to promote obedience to l…aw and reduce

such, the attorney-client privilege is considered as one of the

Attorney-client privilege is a legal concept that protects communications between a client and his or her attorney and keeps those communications confidential.
The policy underlying this privilege

“White Boy” What does the color of his skin matter? You are a ******. Why not call Campillo a Spick? Oh ya you musta forgot the other half of this “miscarriage of justice” was Hispanic. Or maybe you just consider him a Tio Thomas?
Good riddance. Arizona would be better off without a person who casts judgement on a situation with 9:25 seconds worth of video missing and without ANY facts. Might I sugest California, maybe their justice system is less “Flawed”
aljayjr….would like to tell me where exactly in the consitution this is wrong? By all means…if I am wrong then that’s fine, but if you’re gonna talk to me like I’m an idiot, then the least you can do is prove it. When you show me the part in the Constitution that says this is wrong then I will be that much smarter and you would have taught me something new, and I’m always up for learning new things.
That stupid judge had to have seen them do it. She doesn’t notice these goons wandering around riffling through papers? Yeah right! She should be in trouble as well as the deputies.
LoL….that was funny

No actually…I’m in the hotel business. Not even close to gov’t. I’m just level-headed and don’t jump to conclusions about something I don’t have enough evidence on like everyone else does.Everyone is so paranoid and against the justice system. They’re not perfect but they aren’t always the bad guy either. I’m just saying everyone should look at it empathetically from both sides. If there was damning evidence wouldn’t he have just swiped it instead of making a copy and returning the original?
They broke the law! They need to be charged and prosecuted.
